That would be one HELL of a modular from the dotcom company. You could get that new Buchla that came out a few years ago… apparently it’s a SERIOUS machine.
I had a polymoog, and I liked it… until it caught fire in my parent’s basement. I had to sell it back to the guy I bought it from… for $150. Then apparently, he plugged it in and it worked perfectly… grrrr…
If Moog decides to unleash a new polyphonic synth, I would have no hesitation in pre-ordering ASAP. As far as the naming goes, I agree that Phat should not be used. Marketing wise for me, I am turned away from the Little Phatty because of the name, but it does sound pretty wicked which is what really counts.
Still awaiting the arrival of my Moog Taurus IIIs - as soon as they arrive, my Roland JP-8000/PK-5 “Digi-Taurus” setup will hit Ebay to start raising money for a LP StageII.
Riffing on that theme, one could also go with (and I do not claim these are all particularly good or viable options) Mondomoog, Majormoog, Manymoog, Mammothmoog, Monstermoog, and Myriadmoog.
Back when the Poly/Multi/Micro came out, I had the idea that they could have the NanoMoog. It would just have one key and one knob. You’d buy as many as you needed to play whatever song you wanted :^)
A modular keyboard? AWESOME! Can you imagine, 88 full-on synths, each playing a single note? You could even go one step further, and add oscillators, filters, ADSR generators, VCA’s, etc to each note!
I know! I could get into so much trouble with options like that, it’s not even funny! I’d have a WALL of single note synths at $150 a note! Add to that the upgrades to each note, total cost per note would be $500!
