Hi,
I just bought a Little Phatty Tribute edition - I want to be able to play polyphonically on it, so from what I read, it looks like I’ll need Firmware 3.1 upgrade. I downloaded it, but that upgrade said it wouldn’t work unless I’m already running 2.0. From looking at the settings it seems like I’m on Version 1.03Tc.
Any help on how to get everything up to date with multiple downloads/installs/where do I find these?
Thanks - the forums are already super helpful and I appreciate everything that’s on here!
Welcome. I’m a Tribute owner also. It’s a great synth.
The later versions of code require a hardware upgrade if you have a Tribute. The Stage I and Stage II editions in addition to the Slim are all built to the modern spec, and any version will go straight in. But if you want to run the later releases (2.0+) you will need to send your Phatty into Moog and have them upgrade it for you (essentially they add additional memory in order to bring it up to spec.). Contact Moog directly (tech support) to inquire.
From there, you’ll have the capability to run Poly with other Phatty’s that support the same release/code but keep in mind (I think this may go without saying but I’ll say it anyway), you’ll need multiple Phatty’s because each is still a Monophonic instrument.
You can see this demonstrated in several videos on Moog’s site. Typically, you’ll find a Little Phatty driving one or more Slim Phattys but I don’t think there is anything stopping you from Poly chaining two Little Phatty’s (if you have a few laying around : )
Note that there have been a few versions of Polychaining code across the versions and they are not all compatible with each other. If you have the desire (and the wallet) to do Poly on an all Phatty range of synths, best to run the latest release on all.
Great! Thanks so much for the quick response - super helpful!
