Im having a big problem trying to sync my Dotcom Sequencer to Numerology.
Im trying to sequence the Freqbox with the q119, and Im trying to get a polyphonic sequence to the Fantom with numerology for some fruity loop style drum programming with great sounding Famton Samples.
The problem is that I can’t get around the lag.
Do I need a Midi to CV module that will produce gate signals like the dotcom q104 Midi interface?
Im having this problem no matter what Im trying to sequence, I can’t sync the midi clock to the analog clock.
It runs on it’s own. It is triggered by the start button lol.
THe Rate dial on it is pretty darn sensitive also. It’s a little harder to sync than a regular lfo because it has 8 steps (or more) as opposed to just a rising and falling waveform or S&H. It seems like it has to be perfect.
Im thinking if I had something like a Midi to CV converter module that will generate a gate signal, then maybe I can get the sequencer to cycle once and be reset in time, and that might accomodate for any lag. Usualy it will cycle in time a few times before it lags and then reset itself for a second.
WHat I tried to do is run the sequencer’s output to Logic and detect a tempo, and that didn’t work. So I overdubbed a drum beat over that and used that to detect a tempo. It detected a BPM at like 120.XXX and numerology has only two places for entering a value to the right of the decimal.
Easiest thing to do would be to send MIDI notes to the Voyager and have the gate out clocking the seq. I think it works this way.
But yes, MIDI to CV is what you’re looking for. If you can find a Roland MPU-101, that will give you 1/4, 1/8, 3/16 and 1/16 divisions. Kenton Pro Solo? Or can your interface handle Motu Volta?
Send another track playing quarter notes (or whatever) on Numerology to the Voyager and then patch its gate out into the Q119’s external “oscillator” input, and switch to external.
Or, send a click pulse (e.g. a snare drum) sample to the MF-101 and try patching the Env. out to that same input. It may not be hot enough.
