For some reason my Muse is not receiving MIDI. I’ve tried both USB and DIN connections and nothing. The MIDI monitor shows nothing. I use a mioXL for my interface. When connected via USB it does not show up on the mioXL. Any advice? I don’t see options in the MIDI menu to disable or enable either port.

I have both USB-B and DIN Midi hookups. The Din is what controls the other synths in my set up. For instance, if I want to play the Mod D synth, I set the “keyboard midi out channel” on the Muse’s Midi menu to channel 2, which the Mod D is set up to receive on. Even though the Muse also has USB 2 connected to my computer, plugging and unplugging the USB does not effect the sound. That signal is created and passed thru the DIN Midi cables. Unplugging USB doesn’t effect sound/signal path, but it does effect Apple’s Midi Studio where, when unplugged, those icons appear gray meaning turned off.
Where the USB side of things comes in is I believe if you are using a virtual instrument on your computer, or your DAW’s midi track, to “play” the Moog Muse. First, make sure that the channel you picked on the Muse Midi menu for Midi in channel is set to the channel that your virtual instrument or midi track is broadcasting on. Then in your DAW, make sure the Midi Out channel for the track you’re trying to send to the Muse is set to the same midi channel that the Muse is expecting. I will add that in Pro Tools at least, you have to set the Output of the midi track as follows: select Output > Predefined > Moog Muse > Channel 4 (if you’re broadcasting on channel 4).
