Hey people.
I got a MuRF MF-105 from a third party via ebay. When it is plugged in there is no response.

The MF-105 uses a different power adapter than the other MF pedals as the current required is greater. Make sure you are getting 9 volts under load out of the wall wort. Beyond that suggestion I am ignorant. This post made me curious so I searched for the docs on this unit and only found the user’s manual - no schematics. My guess would be that if there is an internal problem, you likely need professional assistance. Additional complication is that apparently Moog does not authorize independent service agents these days and probably guard the schematics against public distribution. If it was mine I would certainly open it up and take a look, but I suspect that there may be a fairly sophisticated circuit converting that +9V wall wort output into bi-polar supply levels used by the audio circuits. see following clip from Moog site service page here: (http://www.moogmusic.com/service/)

Moogerfoogers use different polarity power supplies then most guitar pedals, so if You don’t use an original one that came with the Murf then check polarity and after that check a different power supply with correct voltage and polarity. Also move the plug in the power socket around to see if it’s not a bad connection problem.
Are you sure the power supply works ? Some times the cable going into the plug ( that plugs into the Moogerfooger) break. I’ve also had the transformers go up or the cable coming out of the wallwart Do you have a volt meter or another way to check it ?
As other have said the Moogerfoogers want to see 9volts DC positive tip.
Sure you have
, but are you sure the AC outlet has power ? ![]()
Thanks for all your help guys, I appreciate it.
I was using a 9V negative tip adapter, the same one that powers all my other pedals.
Apparently it should have fried my power supply, but I bought an adapter with the interchangeable tips, and it works perfectly fine.
Everything about it screams quality. And lets be honest. Its such good lookin’.
Glad you got it working and more glad still that you didn’t have to open it up.
I recently took apart my rack and had a peek inside the Midi-Murf (both wood ends were off since it was in the middle of the rack mount); Maaaaannnnn, I don’t think there is a more tightly packed Fooger. dozens and dozens of surface mounted ICs and components and two boards sandwiched together with a series of connectors (header pins).
I did take the back plate off just to get a visual on it all. But as you mentioned, its hella tight in there.
Wasn’t a whole lot i could do other than make sure the inputs were connected properly…
Sounds amazing doesn’t it?
