So I currently have 3 'foogers along with the VX-351 and CP-251. Yes, I could buy two rackmount kits @ $59 each but then I need to buy something to mount them in probably for another $50 or more. So, my question is - has anyone found a less expensive way to mount this gear in a relatively portable and accessible system? Right now I have them all loose yet arranged nicely but looking for something more permanent I think.
I’ve seen some pics of folks setups but it’s been awhile. Thoughts? Thanks!
Interesting - that’s about what I’m leaning towards. Are those the Moog rackmount kits or generic ones? I think I’ve seen those types of “shelves” that might work for pretty cheap.
I found that I could not use the Moog factory rack mounts because they set the 'Foogers too deep into my racks, thus making it difficult to see what I was doing and also difficult access things easily. I simply bought a 4 space “blank” rack panel, drilled holes in it and screwed the 'Foogers in with the screws that hold the rubber feet in place. It worked better for me and cost about less that the Moog racks. Also, it did not require removing the side panels from one of the 'foogers.
Those in the pic are the Moog rackmounts. I’m sure you could get blank panels and drill holes but I liked how these worked. Yes, they do cost a little more but you are racking close to $1000 worth of gear so $60 isn’t too bad in my opinion
Eric, I sold the micro a while back and really miss it. It was a nice compliment to the lush sound of the Voyager. I’m sure I had a good reason for selling but don’t remember what that reason was.
Lastly, if you do go with the Moog racks remember that even though the racks are six spaces high you need to leave another one open for the cables. So it really takes up 7 spaces in the end
[quote=“DeFrag”]I use mine with guitar as opposed to my LPTE with a Hosa RMT-52 tilting rack…

I like this setup. I just got the RMT-52. I may also buy a Vodoo Labs power supply to add a power supply. I have two rack mount kits as well. 3 foogers and the control processor. If I leave a gap in the rack I should not need a patch bay and I can add my Eventide Eclipse which will create a great rack for sound processing from my M3.
Thanks for posting this. I think the Hosea is going to work well for me.
I was thinking a hinged slide out drawer.. where they are stored (and used if needed) parallel to the floor in like a 2U , then it hinges down when you pull the drawer out most of the way..
sadly.. inless they make racks 1/2 wider there will be no way to keep all your wooden panels.
how hard would have it been to cut 1/8 inch off the foogers when first designing them ???
I’m using a cheap behringer patchbay right now for cv duties and it’s working great, albeit I have to use 8 rack spaces for 3 foogers and the cv patchbay, but it’s a nice way to enjoy all the functionality and really make the foogers interact the way they should.
All of this said, something like these would make my day, and I’d happily ebay my stompbox style foogers for new ones. It’d be worth it for if nothing else the ability to ditch the patchbay completely and also be able to fit 4 foogers in one 6space rack. It’d be heaven!
I think I will get a patchbay. I presume it has to be TRS and I don’t want it to be normalized. As for setting of switches in foogers by having cables plugged in I either pressume I can get around this or still leave just enough space to disconnect them if needed.
I am going to modify my MF-107 by cutting the front plate at the bends in two places. I will then have 3 plates (in/output plate, main face plate & foot switch plate) This will allow me to rotate the inputs and outputs so that they face forward. The wires will have to be lengthened to accomidate the extra travel. I will also make the switch plate much smaller or even change the foot switch to a toggle switch and mount it on the face panel. Then I can throw away the foot switch plate. The in/out put plate & the main face plate will need to be clipped back together some how. That is the part I have not come up with as of today. Any ideas out there? I would like to post this process on the forum. This is Bob style designing.
