Moog Voyager gig bag - bad design fault

Am I missing something or are the straps inside the case badly designed. The velcro that is meant to hold the straps nice and tight is in the wrong place and means that you can’t fasten the straps.

Anyone else noticed this?

I’m lucky as my wife is a dab hand with a needle. I’ll have to get some more velcro to extend the fastening area.

I’ve also been annoyed by the straps in the case. They seem about the right length, but if you tighten them more than when the velcro matches up it presses down on the keys and the whole thing seems sort of awkward. If they were positioned more to the side (where the keys stop) it seems like it’d work better.

My first Voyager I had a gig bag and it was designed so that you can put the Voyager in the bag on a Keyboard stand, unzip, undo the straps and play, easy as pie.

Now my new Gig bag you have to lift the Voyager up to get the straps undone, the plastic buckle usually sits on the wood frame. I think they changed the design.

I preferred the original.

I have the hard case with the extendable handle and wheels - and it’s built UPSIDE DOWN. I have to place it wheels, handle and scuff rails UP and open it to load my Voyager. It doesn’t really make any difference, but…

VERY VERY IRRITATING.

I have the older ATA case and it is beautifully designed. Even though it is big and heavy, it is very maneuverable. It’s too bad that is still not offered.

My LP gig bag is a fairly shoddy design as well. The zippers broke the first time I used it, they’re still quite fragile now… and the clips and the end of the shoulder straps stretch under the weight and become quite useles..

I just think its a real shame that you spend so much on a synth that is beautifully designed, and then the ‘official’ gig bag (which is overpriced) is cheap and nasty.

I felt the same when the Moog dust cover arrived!

I am looking for a gig bag for my Voyager. I found this thread via Google search.

What alternatives to the “official” gig bag are you guys using?

Sounds like yours was made wrong. How about the single handle on the long side of that super huge case? I think it could use a few more on the short sides. Carrying that case down a flight of stairs myself requires partially hugging the case. For the price it could be way better.

I use this, for $150 it’s pretty good. (A bit large though.)

For some reason I always find that the “official case” for instruments, be it guitar, synth, drums, what have you, are built poorly/odd. The the locks on my case that came with my gibson les paul broke 2 months after I bought it.

a bit late to the party, but i just posted about a nice alternative bag for the Voyager…made by Mono cases, the M80 Pedalboard Pro, 199.00 online . padded nicely, fits great.

yes, it’s meant for a guitar pedalboard, the Pedaltrain Pro, but sturdy enough for the 40# V’ger.
