I just brought a Moog minimoog voyager AE signed brand new about 3 days ago.
I am experiencing a problem when feeding a audio drum loop into the external input to be processed by the VCO, filter and noise components.
When I have inputed the sound into the moog and start tweaking the knobs to find a good sound the volume level slowly drops away unitl it is unheard. It seems as if the power is being lost and the power supply is slowly discharging what power is left. Could I be overdriving the exteral input? Is this a safety feature to stop further damage on other electrical components? How can I prevent this from occuring???
I love my moog and don’t want to break anything, I hope it’s not a fault.
I contacted the technical support at moog music direct…
The fix is to have the volume env sustain below 8 and it won’t fade away.
Also if feeding the external input while a pre defined preset is selected it can affect the sound produced , the best way to use the external input is to pre edit and set the moog back to its default inisilised parameters. I might note that once you have reset the moog you may have to refresh the switches and knobs to recognise the correct positions.
Thanks for all the help
Big thanks goes to Amos at Moog Music who helped me resolve this problem.
You could set it up once correctly, and then save that as a preset (called “External Filtering” or some such, maybe). That’d save you the time of setting it up on each external-filtering session.
(Of course, it’s good for ya to get nice and fast setting your Moog up manually, too!)
