Hey, i am a Voyager amateur, but i got a problem that has been bugging me. This is regarding the Voyager Oldschool.
Everytime i change a pad (sound preset) on my Voyager, the volume jumps to a preset level, which is always very loud and startling. This is annoying, because i constantly have to turn the sound down every time i change between my preset pads.
Can i take off the preset volume function on the master volume, and have it remain at a constant volume for all of my pads?
“PANEL MODE
…
MASTER VOLUME is used to determine whether the stored Master Volume value is loaded when a new preset becomes active. This is useful if your preset bank contains unusually loud presets, or presets with widely varying Master Volume values.”
It would have been a legitimate question, if it wasn’t regarding the Old School. It does seem bizarre, but a lot of bizarre things have happened here in the recent past.
Actually, i do not own an oldschool. I believe that it is a regular Voyager Select series. I did not have the synth in front of me when i wrote my post, and i was unsure of which model it was. I’m just getting into learning about different synths, and i am still unfamiliar with the different models.
So, can anyone help me out?

Actually, that’s what the ‘Master Volume’ parameter is for. Till’s answer was correct.
The ‘Master Volume’ parameter is found under PANEL mode 1.3. When set to ‘NO’, this parameter ignores the Preset volume level and uses the setting on the Master Volume knob.
While this will help to even out the volume, you will probably find that levels still change as you step through the Presets. The reason for this is mainly due to the Mixer and Filter settings in a given Preset, although other factors (such as the choice of the oscillator Wave) can also be the cause. If you really want to even out the levels, your best bet is to set the Master Volume parameter to ‘YES’ (i.e. Master Volume gets Preset Value), then adjust the volume of each Preset individually and save it.
Thanks alot Greg! i figured that saving my own master levels was probably my best bet, but i wasn’t sure if there was a different way to approach this issue.
