Moog VCO 9501 Info Wanted

I have a module (VCO 9501) with what looks like a Don Martin Moog type logo. 3 spaces wide with sep outs for sine, saw, tri, pulse. Does anyone know anything about this module? THANKS.

It is a Martin module.
I’ve seen his filters and VCAs firsthand (and his horribly executed Mini dupes), but never seen a VCO up close.
His modules weren’t too bad though.
I assume it’s working fine, but you’re just looking for info?

It works fine - was trying to put it in context with my other Moog oscillators in terms of history (901’s /921’s). THANKS! DB

I remember when Martin/Moog surfaced in 1996, I ordered brochures of the 9500 modules. Looked like retouching of old Moog pics, still have it. There were some hot tempers from those days, especially the exchanges on The Gas Station.

Happy New Year to Everyone

Been trawling the interweb and can find very little information on these. Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but does anyone still have a copy of The Don Martin brochure referred to (Is MC still active in this forum?) and can anyone tell me what were the exchanges at the Gas Station?

In fact any information regarding any of the Don Martin modules would be of interest?

I have:

Web released info and pics
Signed letter from Don
Paper brochures
Website source code (about 12 pages)

Do you think I should put up a Don Martin page?

I have a Don minimoog osc board!

I’m still here, and I still have that brochure. Kevin has more than I do.

You should surf over to retrosynth.com - Cary has some info on them.

Kevin judging from Martin’s litigious history, you might not wanna put up his page. I’m sure you were kidding.

The Gas-Station discussions are long gone, although I might have printouts. The main thing I remember were a lot of angry customers who put a down payment and Martin would ignore phone calls or emails. Someone on the forum visited the physical address and found a Mailbox Etc store. Even the court server had trouble serving papers. Very evasive and scheming, this man. Eventually his assets were liquidated under chapter 7 bankruptcy back in 2001. Never heard from him anywhere since.

Sorry just curious, long after the fact, I’m just trying to get some background to one as history. Would anyone be willing to share a scan of this brochure, or any articles of the time, with me? Or could direct me to where it may be hidden

Kind regards Paul

Actually I wasn’t kidding. Why?

  1. He likely won’t sue me. He was the defendant in the Moog case.
  2. The site was done under a company name and not his own name.
  3. This is definitely a fair-use situation. One of historical education.
  4. I would make it very clear that the archived pages have nothing to do with present-day Moog Music.

Besides, much of it (sans photos) is still available here right now:

Thanks for the links, if anyone does have some scans of the original photos or brochure I’d happy pay
