This is a vague question…so forgive me since I am posing this question for my brother who owns a Moog Rogue.
He states that when he switches to “Contour” or “Bypass” and holds a note…the note gradually rises (goes out of tune). The glide is set to “0”. The sustain is not a factor (out/in) and neither is any particular waveform. This does not happen when the switch is on “Keyed”.
Is this an abnormality? I’m 2000 miles away from him, never played a Rogue in my life, so I can’t really experiment with the thing in person at this time.
Any help from Rogue owners would be greatly appreciated.
While it depends on how quickly it goes out of tune, it’s probably normal.
When no key is depressed, the keyboard memory circuit is holding the pitch voltage.
Over time, it will drift.
The keyboard memory circuit is designed to only hold the pitch constant through the release of a note, ie: during the hands-off release portion of the envelope.
A few seconds usually.
If the pitch obviously changes, like a siren, after he lets up a key or switches it to bypass, that’s quick.
If he’s using it as a drone against other music and after 20 seconds it’s sharp, it might be fine.
Unless you can qualify “quick”, I wouldn’t necessarily jump to conclusions it’s broken.
It’s a Rogue and not the highest quality synth to begin with.
