Moog MUSE Random Crackling Noise

Hey everyone,

Yesterday I received my new Moog MUSE and I’m experiencing an issue. I’m getting random crackles. There’s no specific pattern tied to any particular effect or delay. I’ve tried to pinpoint the source but haven’t succeeded so far.

I can clearly hear it when I turn off Oscillator 1 and Oscillator 2 and turn Ring Modulation . That’s when the crackles are really noticeable. I also noticed it becomes very obvious when I’m using PWM.

I tried initializing a patch and closing down the mixer completely to isolate the source and understand where it’s coming from, but the crackling still happens

It occurs even when I’m only using headphones and not connected to speakers. I received the unit with firmware 1.2, updated it to 1.4, and performed a tuning procedure, but the issue persists.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

That’s pretty nasty. Swapped cables won’t help since you hear it on headphones - presumably the headphone output on the Muse itself. Have you tried all the faders to see if one has a static problem? I am guessing you have, but this sound would be unacceptable to me and I would return the unit.
