Moog for Harmonica???

I was hoping someone could help me with this: I’d like to get more of a synth sound out of my harmonica. I’ve tried the MF-105 but it wasn’t really what I was looking for. Though the effect was very cool, I don’t need the steps and notes associated with it. I basically want some type of cool synth sound to go along with sustained notes on the harmonica. Can anyone suggest a Moog effect that can be used?? thanks!

Try the 102 Ring Modulator.

Thanks Mark. I have been messing around with an MF -102 recently, but I can’t seem to get anything out of it that doesn’t sound completely out of tune. I know I’m doing something wrong.

With a fast frequency, it will sound pretty out of tune. However, if you use a slower freq. and bring the mix down, and turn off the LFO then you’ll get a great tremolo. Speed it up a little and you’ll get some musical sounds.

I would think the MF 101 low pass would be pretty nice with a harmonica. Use an expression pedal.

+1 on the low-pass filter. if you can overdrive the harmonica before putting it through the filter you might be able to get some more extreme effects.

Doesn’t John Popper use an MF pedal or two? I’ve seen a pic of him on stage with a pile of pedals on a table.
