Moog EP-2 pedal

Moog EP-2 pedal.. nice pedal, good and heavy… but,

is there a specific way to set it up so that the range of the pedal is the same as the range of the filter knob? Even with the side adjustment on the pedal to the max, it doesn’t have the range or full sweep that the knob on the LP gives you. Perhaps the pedal needs to be plugged in when the LP knob is at the half-way point, or something like this? Any ideas, experiences welcome… thanks, jgirv

the filter cutoff knob, filter envelope settings, “EGR AMNT” and the foot pedal all combine and interact to set the filter cutoff. It’s entirely possible that the pedal by itself doesn’t have exactly the same range as the cutoff knob, and it could also be the case that the other CV signals which interact with the filter could change the apparent range of the cutoff knob vs. the pedal input.
In any case I usually find that most filter sweeps I want to do don’t use the entire range of the filter; I usually want to sweep through a certain smaller range for the best sonic effect. You can put the pedal to minimum and set the lowest point of the sweep using the panel Cutoff and EGR amount parameters, and then set the maximum (high point) of the sweep by putting the pedal all the way forward and using the knob on the side of the pedal. Unless you still don’t get a wide enough sweep at that point… but that should allow for some pretty good sweeps.

thanks for the very detailed reply… I had not considered the various interactions (esp. EG Amount and Keyboard) … and yes, the pedal does provide a large range of sweep when set-up as you describe…makes a great addition!
