A few nights ago, while using my Phatty TE as a controller for my Voyager RME, the Mod Wheel stopped functioning altogether. I checked for MIDI output on MIDI-OX and there was nothing from the Mod Wheel; however all of the other controls worked properly & returned their appropriate MIDI values. I thought this might be MIDI related, so I connected my amp directly to the Phatty, but the problem did not clear up. So I tried the usual troubleshooting sequence: power cycle, remove power altogether for several minutes, restore factory defaults - even downgraded OS from 1.03 to 1.02 - all with no luck. So in frustration, I turned the unit off & went to bed - all the while fretting about having to return the unit I have owned only a few weeks. The next morning I gave it one last try & it worked just fine - as standalone unit, as controller for the Voyager, output in MIDI-OX, etc… I then upgraded the OS back to 1.0.3 and all has been well for 2 days now.
What gives - is this a problem I should RMA the unit for - or is it just moody like me? Has anyone else experienced this problem with the Phatty TE?
OK, this morning I played around on the Phatty only, and the Mod Wheel issue is happening again - started out like a second of “delay” from the time I would activate the mod wheel to when it would affect the sound. Then it cut out completely, then came back on. Definitely sounds like a physical problem. Luckily I purchased the unit new & can RMA for replacement (if I’m lucky) or get my $$ back.
