NOTE: When the Minitaur powers up, the settings on the VCO LFO AMOUNT
and VCF LFO AMOUNT controls have a direct effect on the VCO and VCF. This
behavior continues until the Minitaur receives a MIDI Mod Wheel command,
from which point the Mod Wheel takes master control of the LFO modulation
amount set by the Amount controls.
When the Minitaur doesn’t receive messages from a Mod Wheel the VCO LFO Amount and VCF LFO Amount do not control the amount of LFO Modulation. Can someone confirm?
Unless Moog changes the behavior with a firmware update, the VCO LFO and VCF LFO Amount knobs set the modulation amount affecting the VCO and VCF respectively until the first Mod Wheel message is received. From that point forward, the Mod Wheel will control the overall LFO modulation amount, and the VCO LFO and VCA LFO Amount knobs will set the maximum LFO amount that can be applied when the MW is pushed all the way up.
Moog probably designed it this way so that if the Minitaur isn’t being controlled from external controller, the VCO LFO and VCF LFO Amount knobs still function.
Hey Greg, exactly, point is that it doesn’t. I use a Machinedrum to sequence the Minitaur and cannot hear the modulation amount from neither VCO LFO nor VCF LFO. No Mod Wheel CC message is being sent by Machinedrum.
Maybe the Machinedrum sequencer sends an zero on CC #1 to initialize instruments before the start. It is send when stopping the playback.
Check this with a MIDI monitor software.
My Minitaur does work (panel settings for modulation are live until modwheel data is send) like described in the manual.
