This is a somewhat dated video, but a good one nonetheless.
And he’s not even using the Overload trick (the light never lit up), but rather a tape echo machine on the right, with the added natural reverb of the church where he played this.
He could be using overdrive with a burned out overload light or the contacts are intermittent.

Yes, it’s possible. That light is blindingly bright when it does light up ! (I put a red plastic cap on mine to dim it a little)

Those Synthesizer von Gestern CDs are fantastic though they are all done with many overdubs of course
This was also done using only the venerable Minimoog D for all sounds, and all played by hand a while ago. (with a slight touch of reverb and flanger, of course)
