My MiniMoog’s on light, the raised red light, intermittantly flashes, and won’t stay lit. I’m thinking that it’s shorting out against something, but I’m not sure what. I’ve read that other people have had the very same problem, so perhaps there is a common fix for this problem.
Can anyone here offer me a suggestion on where to look? I have a multi-meter…
Those power lights are neon bulbs. At the end of their life, they will blink intermittently. There is probably nothing wrong with your minimoog, the neon bulb is just wearing out. They won’t short or cause any damage.
Wonderful. It didn’t occur to me that it needed replacement, I think because I first noticed it around the time I installed the K. Lightener Osc. Sync mod. So, I figured I knocked something out of place while I was in there.
Incidentally, I later reversed the sync mod, having never actually physically altered my Mini (I had the switches on leads for a year). I thought it sounded phenomenal and was very useful, but one day I just decided that I’d rather preserve the original integrity of this Mini. It’s a fairly early walnut model (#19XX) and had survived the decades, in pretty nice, unadulterated condition, so it seemed a little wrong for me to go and reverse engineer it–at this stage in it’s life.
come on now Kevin, tell him the truth about the winking Mini, in reality it is just letting you know that the both of you are in sync and truly get the mini pheomena - just like a subtle wink btn friends.
