Who get the Messenger in sync to external MIDI Clock? And when how??
Hi! I think i have the same issue with midi clock. When i connect Messenger to pc(win pc or mac, usb or din5 - it doesnt matter) or other gear with midi i get this:
master sends midi clock and Messengers arp\seq on → Messenger reacts to keys(or midi note on command) with really long lag. Its about one and half 16th note at 120 bpm. BUT looks like it gets tempo.
no master clock and Messengers arp\seq on → all fine but no sync.
master clock on and Messengers arp\seq off → all fine, no lag no sync.
Running the latest firmware? Downloads | Moog Music
It appears in 1.04, 1.07, 1.08 firmware
I could fix it on my own. It was a clock filter active at the blockas midi hub.
. My fault.
This is the same issue I’m having. Even when midi-clocked and hearing the metronome FROM the midi clock source, I still can’t get the arpeggiator to start on time. I’ve tried pressing keys before the 1 etc etc etc and it still doesn’t behave. And I need it to lol
I still have that problem. Can’t sync it from any DAW or another synth via midi. Tried to record it and synth gets the tempo properly but it out of phase with clock source. Want to try it with any midi to cv/clock converters but i dont have any of them.
I can get the sequencer to start exactly when I hit play and it is in sync via midi. The arp will not start on time but the tempo is correct. On other Moog synths, we’re looking for ARP ‘Note Reset’ settings but the messenger’s are not easy to find, if they exist at all. Which would be silly lol
I have this set to ignore start and stop, for workflow I prefer to trigger with keys not the DAW transport however there is a timing delay at least a quarter note long @ 120 BPM, with the arp and sequencer once you press a key in a DAW environment, I am on Nuendo with midi out from controller to the messenger, doesn’t make a difference if the DAW is playing or idle, if I use the controller, or if I press the key on the messenger, the delay is there, my other synths with same midi set up do not have a delay, PRO 3, Slim Phatty, etc. I think this is a bug or just something that needs to be improved,
Does not help. Have you guys done anything to fix this??? Are you even avare that everybody is having these issues??? Are you even working on it??? This stuff should work in 1.0 …. now its 1.10 and and nothing is done and you are not even avare of these problems??? I don’t know how this is even possible!!
And a fucking software editor that crashes instantly when you double click it!!! What is this??? Even the most noob companies doesn’t put out shit like this and you are Moog, maybe you should change your name to Noob, same font.
I thought I was going mad after trying to get my Messenger to sync with midi clock. All the other pedals and synths are working perfectly. A web search has revealed I am not alone. Seems pretty unbelievable that such a new synth cannot sync with MIDI clock? Latest firmware did not fix it. 1.08. Is it a hardware issue?
I think both the messenger and muse will get stuck notes if you play them from external source, like keystepper 32 or if i use the muse to sequence the other synths the messenger has a tendency to be wonky.
The midi panic button is good on the muse for that aspect, but on the messenger only way to fix it i’ve found with a stuck note is to power cycle it, and generally when this happens, the editor software will also lose its connection.
I am on 1.10 and I can send MIDI notes to the Messenger. What I can’t seem to do is have the sequencer start and stop when it receives start and stop. I have a Perkons connected to the same clock source and that works perfectly. When I go to the MIDI clock settings menu, LEDs for steps 1 and 2 are both lit up. This makes no sense since it says that PGM 1 should be either lit or unlit and does not even mention step 2.
Can someone explain what is going on and how to fix it? It is basically impossible to sync the sequencer to the messenger, which is super annoying.
