MIDI keyboard connection

Hello -

Newbie question…

I want to expand the range of my Sub phatty by using one of my midi keyboards,a novation launchkey and a M audio 49. Neither of these have Old school midi, but have a standard USB type B connection, just like the SP.

it is, however, Close to impossible to acquire a USB B to USB B cable, as this is not the commonest of Connections.

How to work around this?

Thanks for any advice.

USB controllers require connection to a USB host ~
i.e. a computer, iOS device, or something like an iConnect MIDI interface between the controller and the synth you want to connect to.

WIth the possibility of some rare exceptions (none that I can think of at the moment), synthesizers and sound modules (Moog included) are not USB hosts, so you will not be able to connect a USB-only MIDI controller directly to them.

You will need to use a USB host device between the synth and the USB keyboard.

I was Afraid that was the case…

Cheers, anyway

Something like this might work.

I have not used one so I can’t recommend it or say if it will do the job but you may want to look into it.
