Midi interface to use with Voyager

Hi I am a new user of the Voyager. I am wondering if anyone can suggest a cheap midi interface to use with Mac OS X, Logic Express and the Voyager. I want to do some sequencing from Logic to the Voyager. Something cheap would be cool.

Depending on your needs, a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 could do the trick. It’s a PCI board (fits inside your Mac) and supports MIDI and a single channel of audio. At $100, it’s a cost effective choice for a basic inteface.

Want something for less? If you only need MIDI (no audio), M-Audio makes a USB MIDI interface for about $35.

Can’t think of anything cheaper than that.

m-audio yep, ^^^^ they have some other stuff too, i was going to say UNO, basic usb 1 in 1 out.

I’m currently having problems with the 2496. Apparently, when the Voyager sends midi to my computer, the card’s buffer is not getting cleared, so it’s overflowing. Just tried the lateest drivers, but that doesn’t fix it. See a similar post I put up about Cubase losing midi connection.

With the Voyager editor, I can save presets to the Voyager, put can’t upload a bank from the Voyager, and I can only grab up to 2 presets with the F9 function.

If anyone has any ideas on what I might try (besides a different card) I’d be happy to hear it.

So heads up on that card.

There is the MOTU Fastlane USB MIDI interface too. Its 2x2 and runs USB. I think they are about $70 from Sweetwater. You can probably find a used one on Ebay.

BTW, Edirol makes a cheap USB to MIDI interface too. Musician’s Friend has them.

I’m not a mac user, but if you have a PCI sound card doesn’t the joystick port have MIDI? That’s a cheap solution.

There is no joystick port on Macs

There are plenty cheap interfaces that use USB and are more or less a USB cable with a very tiny box and to cables with femal MIDI jacks attached.
