Thank for this,that’s a great interview!,it’s very informative,i’ve always wondered about the actual gear on the recordings.
I was very suprised to find a Rhodes on some of those tracks, FM’d and layered deep within. Ive listed to those tracks and ive never picked it out, and I own a Rhodes! Some fantastic engineering went into those records especially considering the time they were done. I know not everyone here is a fan of MJ, but I figured people here would appreciate the synthesis techniques and the boards that were used.
Ever since I got my LP I’ve wondered about the MJ recordings and this just made my day when i saw it. Thanks!
Man Im glad you liked it. I watched the movie twice and His band was insanely good.
To me it was a matter of who really had the tightest band in the Genre, James Brown or MJ. I happened to see James Brown and PFunk in Memphis In May the year James Brown died. P Funk was on Sat and James closed the show on Sunday. It was funk history that night, really but as someone who loves Funk and who loves both artists, I really got to compare the two bands. James Brown’s band was tighter, though P Funk does what they do like noother.
MJ’s band has some extremely talented musicians, but lots of times, Like Marvin Gaye’s backup band, they didn’t get the spotlight because everyone there goes to see Michael.
