MF104Z-Why does the output get so HOT!?

I like my 104z but when you make it feedback on itself the volume always gets out of control and distorts my preamps. I dont seem to remember this happening on the memory man. Is this just my 104z or does everyone have this problem? Is there something to be done besides run it through a limiter?
thanks
Josh

Same thing happens with my Big Briar MF-104. I’ve never used a Memory Man, but the feedback on my RE-201 Space Echo is much more managable (and musical).

My Moogers do it as well. Personally, I like it. It can get loud. I have never tried a Memory Man, but would not doubt it is more “tame.”

The Mooger gets super crazy when a couple of CP-251’s are controlling time and feedback.

It is an absolutely CRAZY effect.

The Memory Man (which I use regularly) can definitely feedback like crazy on itself but I agree that it keeps the level under (more or less) control - although it does distort nicely.

I don’t use (and have never used) a 104 so I can’t comment on that. You might consider running it through a compressor on a very gentle setting just to make sure things don’t get too out of control.
