mf-107`s VCO mod with an LFO

dear all hello,

is it possible to modulate the 107s VCO with and LFO signal via the audio input?

if so i would get the modulated VCO signal out of the “VCO out”

am i right?

many thanks.

It depends. You cannot make the 107 track to frequencies below the frequency at which the OSC frequency is set, so if the LFO frequency is out side the audible range then no.. But if you are not trying to sync the 107 OSC an incoming voltage from an LFO will cause the OSC to produce a tone at the Frequency knob’s setting. Really though to modulate the frequency of the OSC you need to connect a CV source to some of the Freq or Env inputs.

When you say “modulate”, I interpret that as applying an LFO to the frequency for vibrato effect. Yes, you can do this by plugging the LFO into the FREQ input.

If you were to sync the 107’s oscillator to an LFO, I think the results would be uninteresting. I’m speaking theoretically because I’ve never tried it, but I bet you would just hear the 107’s VCO frequency and then a quick pop or glitch every time the LFO hit the zero-crossing point.

thank you both!!!

i will try then - when i am back home!

bye-bye

Are you positive about this? I ask because generally you have to set it somewhere around 12:00 to get it to track anything to scale, and I use the middle C to test the tuning (especially with my Micro) If what you say is true (As I understand it) then you’d have to set the freq to max value to get a note below where the pot is set.

Edit:
Oh I see, in the AUDIO input.

Keep in mind though when using a CV in the Freq input, the Freq knob will act like a COARSE adjustment, and the ENV knob will act as a fine tune. Getting proper scaling depends on the setting of BOTH knobs.

THe Ringmod tracks with superiority.
