MF-103 VS MF-105

Hi there,

I am a delighted Moog Slim Phatty, MF-102 and MF-108M user (also had the MF-107 but decided to trade it for the MF-102) and I am looking for a good sounding analog phaser.
The MF-103 is an obvious choice but as I am an electronic music (wannabe) producer, syncing to MIDI ala MF-108 would be a great pro for recording parts twice for stereo.

From the demos on youtube I can say I love the sound of the MF-103 already, but, can the MURF do phasing effects? Found some clips on youtube and it seems to do some sort of phasing effects, to a limited extent.

Anyone with any clips showing more prominent phasing effects or experiences with the MURF?

And can anyone that knows what is going on in Moog lab camp if I should wait for a MIDI version of the MF-103? You don’t have to say they are making one, just tell me to wait

Peace out.

It’s different to a phaser. It can sound similar at times, but very different at others. I find the MuRF good for both long, slow sweeps and fast percussive bursts. Here’s a brief demo, with annotation as it plays:

I had a lot of very frustrating trouble with the MIDI for several days at first, and finally decided to use the MIDI note method when running from the computer, but MIDI clock when running from separate drum machine/sequencer. I don’t know why the MuRF’s MIDI is so frustratingly glitchy when clocked from a DAW, but ‘playing’ the bands works better.

Despite the MIDI flaws, I’d still say it’s a great pedal and unique so far as I know. Inspirational and well worth getting. And a good companion to a phaser, as it’s not actually a phaser itself. You will want both.
