I have tried everything (USB, Din-Midi, external hardware clock) but it either was the sequencer out of sync with the MIDI clock or the arpeggiator. It wasn’t possible for both to be in sync. I have the latest firmware 1.0.13 installed.
I noticed that the reason is probably that pressing “start” to start the the sequence also restarts the clock. This then leads to the arpeggio no longer running in sync with the external Midi clock. It drove me crazy.
I own several other Moog synthesizers and none of them have these problems.
Please fix this in a new firmware update, otherwise I cannot use the synth live.
It would be good if the sequence only started with the next pulse when the man presses start, and thus automatically. It would be good if the sequence starts with the next pulse when the start button is pressed, thus automatically being in sync with the clock.

My Messenger is gathering dust until this problem is resolved. I hope all the sync issues will be addressed in a firmware update soon.
I made more tests and I think I found the exact problem. Pressing “Play” allows you to easily start and run sequences in sync with the clock.
However, if you play a chord to start the arpeggiator, it always starts with a delay relative to the clock, making it impossible to run the arpeggiator in sync with an external clock. The tempo ist correct but there is always a delay.
Please fix this in the firmware soon!
Yes, this should be working in 1.00 …. Newest firmware and still midi sync issues, usb, midi, cv clock, nothing works. And midiclock is not all, cc modulation messages lag, like half a second after you turn a knob or modulation wheel it starts to effect the sound when you are in local off mode and midi through ableton, keyboard presses and pitchbend does not seem have a lag.
- The software editor on Apple m1 crashes instantly when opened if messenger is connected.
I don’t know how Moog can’t get these basic software things right, not a small company. And everybody else has these things working from the getgo. How can you release a MIDI synth for 800€ and the MIDI does not work?? A year soon from its release… Still selling it, midi useless. And not the first time I have had software problems with moogs… Last time I bought a moog synthesizer. I recommend behringer to everyone from now on , 10 times cheaper and works better.
