I am wondering who programmed such a buggy editor, and with a totally confusing librarian management!!! I deal with many editor/librarian, but they are logically programmed and work very well. This is a total chaos. Come on Moog…..do something!!!

yes, the preset management is really confusing. The presets don’t change in the editor when you make a selection on the Messenger? It would be helpful to have some simpler and clearer way to organize and see what is happening. The “Load Preset” button isn’t totally clear. Overall it could be easier to understand what is happening with preset/patch management.
Yes, you got perfectly the point. I really don’t know what they were thinking about, when they made this editor. I hope they will solve soon all these problem, because to me the editor is pretty unusable. And I would also like the add the send bank via sysex, because for now we can send just a single patch at a time or all patches. What if I want to send a bank?

Das ist für mich auch der entscheidende Punkt. Standalone ist zwar nett zum Sortieren, aber für einen vernünftigen Workflow in der DAW (Total Recall, Automation) ist das VST/AU Plugin eigentlich Pflicht.
Hoffentlich wird das zeitnah nachgereicht, da der Termin ja nun schon verstrichen ist. Ohne direkte Einbindung in die DAW macht der Editor nur halb so viel Sinn.
Totally agree. The standalone editor is useful, but DAW integration would make it much more practical. Hopefully they prioritize the VST/AU plugin soon, especially for automation and recall.
Hey everyone. Just got the Messenger (8/2026) and I’m really enjoying it. I’ve been using soft synths and a controller keyboard but finally decided to get a real synth. Some times you just need to get your hands on your thing.
I had some problems I attribute to the learning curve but I did find one thing I know is not right. When I tried to assign the expression pedal in the Preset Editor software it did nothing. It worked fine doing direct on the Messenger, I ran it through a midi monitor and found it was not sending any code for the expression pedal but it did for all the other assignable items. And all the other assignable items did change the assignment on the Messenger. I put in a ticket about this problem and I’m waiting to hear back.
I’m using Preset Editor 1.0.3. If anyone is using a different version and is not having this problem let me know.
And yes it would be great to have the VST/AU ASAP.
InMusic got back to me. Here is the reply: “This has been identified this as a bug in the latest version of the Preset Editor, and it has already been reported to our development team. Please note that the technical support team does not have control over product or firmware development and therefore cannot provide updates or estimated timelines for bug fixes.”
Almost every company I’ve ever delt with has a Bug Log you can check. Does anyone know if InMusic/Moog has one?
I bought a few preset packs for my Messenger
I’m curious how can people save individual .syx presets
For example I have Natlife’s sequences pack and it has one-by-one .syx files
I can only save my complete preset banks with all of the presets on my synth into 1 .syx file
Does anyone know a sysex “single file” dump software for Windows 10/11?
You all know the huge problem is with the official editor is it can not save sequences
MIDI-OX & Bome SX can only do a “complete sysex dump” into 1 file but that’s not what I want

Ah I found the solution…
So it’s not a “software” feature you can actually have to do it on the synth
Instead of full SysEx dump which is Settings page 3 & Button 7
If you press Button 6 it will only send the actual preset on the synth not the complete SysEx dump

That distinction clears up why the two buttons behaved so differently. I’d use Settings page 3 / Button 7 when I need the complete SysEx backup, and Button 6 when I only want the current preset payload—much less confusing than treating them as two dump sizes. For A/B listening while I tweak a Messenger patch, I sometimes keep a steady reference tone running separately so changes in the envelope and filter are easier to judge; this 432 Hz reference is a handy free option.
