Memorymoog vs. Memorymoog Plus

What can anyone tell me regarding the differences in the Memorymoog and
the Memorymoog Plus?

Thanks in advance,
Harry

Main differences are as follows . . . the plus version has additionally:-

MIDI IN/OUT/Through but only very basic MIDI specification and some people say that the processor is not fast enough to process the MIDI data so the whole operation of the unit is slower then the standard Memorymoog.

4000 note real time /5000 note step time sequencer (I think they are the right amount of notes) controlled by doubling up the buttons in the MODULATION section, on the plus model these buttons are whiter, like the keypad buttons.

It is also possible to control via the sequencer a monosynth from CV out of the memorymoog plus . . . so you could have the MM playing chords and a lead line played out to a minimoog or similar via control voltage.

Extra clock in and clock outs for control of the sequencer and tempo sync to external divises via analog click/smpte.

Revised autotune circuits, and updated power supply making the memorymoog plus apparently more stable and in tune then the standard memorymoog.

I own a standard memorymoog which has had some problems (like they do) and has cost a few bucks to have put right, personally I have always stayed away from the plus model as IMHO it’s no more stable or in tune then the standard model, has planty more to go wrong inside and in todays environments a limited onboard sequencer isn’t of much use.

If you want a MIDI memorymoog then the only real answer is to get one fitted with a Rudi Lintronics modification. This is a major overhaul and costs a fare bit of money but what you get is a rock solid synth . . . probably the greatest sounding (and stable) poly of all time . . . and it’s cheaper if you have the standard model to modify as Rudi pulls all the extras out of the memorymoog plus before he begins his operations.

I can do nothing but recommend that Lintronics modification. This L.A.M.M. (Lintronics Advanced Memorymoog Modification) is worth every $$. It makes your Memorymoog stable (where a very lot of the standard Memorymoog synths have the bad reputation of drifting oscillators), it gives you a filter plugin, an extra L/R audio output, a few less interesting extra features, and last but not least a complete MIDI implementation - that means MIDI in-and output for every knob/switch tweaking if you like !!
Check www.lintronics.de for more info, or contact Rudi Linhard - he’s very helpful if there are problems or if you have any questions (and very quick - I had always answer within the first 24hrs).
And I’d never sell my L.A.M.M. Memorymoog - it’s a beast (in good sense  )…
If you want to buy one you can ask it directly to Rudi Linhard or to his business companion from EMC Music - http://www.emc-de.com/ .
Good luck & enjoy !!
And always welcome to the Moog Archives Memorymoog forum if you have any comments or questions ( http://moogarchives.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6 ) !!
