I’m trying to get my Kronos to trigger the Matriarch arpeggiator.
If I do this:
-
Set the Kronos and Matriarch to MIDI channels 1 and 2 respectively
-
Connect both keyboards to my Mac running Logic with USB cables (through a hub) and (in Logic) set the Matriarch to listen for all midi channels and Kronos to transmit on all
Then I can hear matriarch audio when I press Kronos keys as expected. However. if I then manually arm the Matriarch arpeggiator with the play button and hold down multiple notes (monophonic mode), the arpeggio will play once, then stop. I tried the same test sending midi notes from an Arturia KeyLab (also connected via USB) with the same results.
Trying to narrow down the problem, I disconnected the Matriarch and KeyLab USB cables and ran a MIDI DIN cable from the KeyLab out to Matriarch in. Now, with play armed, an arpeggio repeats correctly when I’m holding down multiple keys on the KeyLab. Great! But I would still like to do this from my Kronos while keeping both it and the Matriarch connected to Logic through USB.
Can anyone explain why this problem occurs when I use USB and how I can get around it? Thanks for your thoughts.
