Matriarch ARP/SEQ clock unstable

Recently, my Matriarch has been experiencing severe instability of the internal sequencer clock after being switched on. Regardless of the selected speed, the clock frequency jumps chaotically between different values. After some time (about 15 minutes), the situation stabilizes and the clock frequency can be set normally. Everything works normally with an external clock.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I have a clock issue that is minor in that it doesn’t affect workflow, though may have a connection with your issue, at source. I use Pam’s New Pro Workout as an external clock for the Matriarch, however if I move the synth clock speed dial, it overrides Pam’s. After that, it becomes unclear what is actually running the clock. Solved by switching Pam off an on again.

The issue has finally been solved. I opened the Matriarch and removed the CPU board, which also contains the ARP/SEQ circuitry. My intention was to look for cold solder points, weak capacitators and evetually broken parts. This gave no specific result. But after re-assembly, the problem was gone. I suspect that there was a contact issue with one of the five ribbon cables, which connect this board with others. The Matriarch is now running since several days without problems.

@Grow a Garden Thank you for sharing

thank you, I just got a used dark matriarch and it is doing just what you described, stops completely, goes wild, etc. I’ll take a look
