M-103 or CP-251 next?

Got money saved to get a new fooger soon. Already have an MF-101 and MF-107. I use them mainly for my bass to make synth bass and funk sounds and I love them. Can´t really decide what´s next though. A CP-251 would be nice to be able to expand the versatility/capabilities of the 101-107 combo. On the other hand, I so long to be able to make Daft Punk-like vowelsounds now that I have a 107 that can give me a nice spectrum of high frequencies from my bass.

And I should add that my synth is a MonoMachine (six track sequencer/synth). It´s quite sharp so maybe it would benefit most of an 103.

Hmm…

If you find the monomachine’s sound harsh, try setting distortion to -10 on all tracks. Instantly warms it up.

I love the murf followed by an envelope following filter for vowel sounds with a synth source.

You might want to go ahead and get the CP. WIth that, you will really be able to integrate those other foogers in ways you can’t imagine.

A 107 and CP is like having another synth voice for whatever instrument you run through the 107, especially since you have a filter to go with it. It is the most complete Moogerfooger synth.

A 103 is nice but it doesn’t add as much benefit to the other foogers, but you would be able to do Phased bass which is funky.

You are going to end up with them all anyway so just decide which one you want more, if you want to make those foogers more independant, go with the CP, or if you want to keep them tethered to an external instrument then get the 103.

Probably the CP will make you feel more like you are closer to your end goal. Every other fooger you buy after the CP 251 will be enhanced, rather than you having to wait until you can ehnance them all by saving up for the next purchase.

If you have a MonoMachine then you can do everything the entire product range of foogers can do and with full step sequencing of every parameter. Yes, its not analog. Yes, it takes up a track or two on the Elektron you may want for something else. Yes, there’s a tiny output option the 103 has, but I really don’t think it will sell less albums

Or -just so I don’t get flamed out of existence- you could use the MonoMachine to trial the effects and see if they suit your music. Don’t underestimate the convenience the Mono versions of the foogers!

I was going to buy a CP-251 but am afraid to because as soon as I do, Moog will come out with a Midi controlled version. So for now, I’m using the attenuator functions of the VX-351 and the clock/LFO/envelope functions of the Multipedal.

It is tempting though…

Hi EM, there’s a bit of a hole in the products because the CP could have few more things (all waves for LFO!), the MP needed more hands on knob twiddling and the VX perhaps got off track with the attenuators and multi (although they aren’t much added to the build). So I guess like a lot of people you have to get the VX, CP and MP to cover everything. Each one isn’t enough on its own.

I use the CP all the time as the voltage inverter/attenuator/bias swiss tool.

Well, 99 times out of 100 I use my bass with my foogers and the foogers respond way better than the MonoMachine. I have tried the MonoMachine effects and find the phaser is lame. But of course the little b*¨#ard can do some fun stuff, that´s why I´ve got it!

I ordered the 103 yesterday and have already put the cp in the basket.
