LP Stuck at Send Firmware SX, just back from Warrenty Repair

Hey guys,

I found some older threads on this, but didn’t find much of an answer.

I just got my LP back from a warranty repair for having a blown oscillator board. I was happy to get it back, I plugged it in, and it sounded great, then when I started jamming on some tunes and I realized it was transposed 5 tones higher, so a C was a G.

When they replaced the oscillator board, the first half of the presets were replaced with test tone presets. Those were in key, but all the other presets were transposed.

So, I went to go put in the new OS, and replace the factory presets back to see if it would fix the problem.

I tried to put on the new OS and it said something like, LOAD FAILED PLEASE POWER CYCLE, now it is just stuck at Send Firmware SX.

I have tried it on 2 Macs and still the same thing.

Any ideas? I love this thing, but since I bought it five months ago, I still haven’t been able to record with it!

first off, doing a full Note Calibration (Master Menu, System Utilities, Calibration) would have probably fixed the initial problem.

As it is now, the LP is probably fine but there is a problem with sending it sysEx info successfully. What kind of MIDI interface are you using? The Digidesign Digi-002 and family are notorious for dropping bits of data unless you slow down the transfer rate, which not all sysEx utilities allow you to do easily. Some other interfaces have similar problems. I tend to recommend the M-audio (formerly Midiman) MidiSport series of MIDI interfaces as they are pretty much bomb-proof.

email me at amos at moogmusic dot com and I will see if I can send you a mac-based installer utility… we have one in beta development right now which should make this whole process a lot easier.

I’m sorry for the trouble you’re having and I hope we can get you up and recording soon!

Thanks for the info.

I am pretty sure that it is something on my end. I’m not trying blame moog for a bad keyboard, as I understand that 90% of the time when these things arise it’s user error, or something else falty with cables, etc.

I used an m-audio oxygen 8, novation x-station, and digi design midi rack i/o that is on our HD rig. I will e-mail you right away.

Thanks for the reply.

I use Sysex Librarian for Mac. Setting the transfer speed to 70% was the solution for me.

borrow someone’s laptop and do it with a PC computer.
it works better.
