LP Attack/Filter Automation

Hello,

I’m having some trouble automating both attack and filter cutoff in Logic 8. When I try to automate the decay and sustain everything works out fine, I turn the knob, Logic records and displays the automation as a line that I can edit whichever way I want.
When I try automating the filter cutoff or the attack, Logic displays the changes, however they’re displayed as a ‘bypass’ line that can’t really be edited. I really have no idea what I’m doing wrong and I would much appreciate any advice since I obviously can’t produce something proper without being able to automate parameters such as attack or filter cutoff.

Thanks!

When recording MIDI in Logic 8, I find that parameter changes are not recorded properly, if at all. I just record my notes then draw in my changes afterwards using hyper draw. On the arrange page (or piano roll) go to view>hyper draw>other, then whatever CC corresponds to your parameter i.e. CC19 for cutoff.

cheers.

… two things to consider… the filter cutoff is a high-resolution parameter, so instead of a value of 0-127, it’s MUCH higher… you may (I’m a Sonar user, not Logic) have an option in your DAW somewhere to accept that info…

Are you automating from the LP control panel, or are you doing it over MIDI using a MIDI controller keyboard? Only because other variables such as Local Off/On come into play.

In short, there should be a way. I have been able to get it done in Sonar, but I had to really think it through first, and experiment a bit.
