I’m having some trouble recording my Little Phatty with Pro Tools. I have it hooked up into my Digidesign 003 Factory and then into my Mac.
I’m able to record the MIDI notes in Pro Tools (running from MIDI out on the LP to MIDI in on the 003 and vice versa) but I can’t get the actual sound from the LP, which is what I want.
I read that you need to make a separate Audio track in Pro Tools along with the MIDI track, so I did that and ran a 1/4" cable from the LP Audio Out to Channel 1 input on the back of my 003. Then when I went to record I enabled both the MIDI track and the Audio track but I still didn’t get the sound of the LP, just the MIDI notes.
I feel like I am missing one simple step.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks a lot.
EDIT: I figured it out. It was a simple thing I forgot to do. If you are using Pro Tools and the Digi 003 you have to connect the LP to one of the line-level inputs, channels 5 to 8, on the Digi and set up a new path in the I/O section of Pro Tools. Channels 1-4 are meant specifically for mics. and do not work the same as line level for instruments.
