Hi, I had my synth delivered today, and I’ve searched and searched and cannot find out how to change the pattern (up, down, up and down, random or whatever).
I’ve searched the manual, but it only appears to tell me how to turn latch on and off.
Ok, I’ve found the page and I have the arp activated by pressing the ‘value’ knob.
It says to use ‘curser’ to highlight ‘ARPEGGIATOR’ and press ‘enter’, which I cannot do.
‘ARPEGGIATOR’ does not appear.
I appear to be able to get into ‘arp setup’ which gives me all the options clock, time division, midi, gate, etc… but it doesn’t give me anything to edit the pattern, octaves or loop??
Starting to get annoying that I’ve paid over a grand in uk £’s and I can’t access any arpeggio settings straight from the panel. Also, separate cut-off and resonance is a little bit of a set back. There’s nothing better than twiddling away and making that acid techno bassline whistle and sing!
There’s an OS v 3.1 addendum to the LP/SP manual that addresses several features that were changed after the original manuals were published.
It includes some updates to the ARP functions.
I don’t think the addendum was ever posted as a separate file on the Moog support downloads site, but you should be able request & receive a copy from Moog tech support. If you happened to receive a CD with your Phatty, you might check there and see if a copy is included.
The combination of the original manual + the addendum should give you everything you need to access the ARP functions.
Navigating the LP menu system takes a bit of practice, but I think you’ll find that once you get familliar with it you’ll be able to quickly access just about every feature you need with very little effort!
Since you just received your LP, it might be agood idea to go ahead and do a factory restore (one of the menu options) so you have a known starting point as you start using and programming your Phatty.
Good luck, and give it a bit of practice time -
It’s a great - and now classic - Moog synth!
*Pot Mapping. allows you to, for example, use the Oscillator or Envelope section knob to control resonance, at the same time the Filter section knob is controlling cutoff.
As for the arp settings, press MASTER, use Value knob to select ADVANCED PRESET page. Press cursor, turn Value knob to the left, you should see ARPEGGIATOR. Press ENTER to access the Advanced Preset->Arpeggiator menu. On this menu you will find Octaves, Pattern, and Mode. These items are saved per-preset and they do not have a global equivalent, which is why they are buried here in the Advanced Preset menus. Sorry for the inconvenience! The LP did not originally have an arpeggiator, so the UI is not optimal for the arpeggiator controls.
That’s so much help! Thanks Amos. Makes a little more sense now.
My main synth until this point has been an MS2000, so I’m used to having a billion knobs in front of me.
Worked out the pot popping ;] I can’t find resonance as a ‘destination’ though. In time!
Hi Lee, it’s done according to MIDI CC number, Map to the MIDI CC number of the parameter you want to control. Resonance is is CC21, I think… check the manual for the complete list.
