Little Phatty SE II and Taurus 3 not going into Poly Mode.

My LP arrived v3.1S 672; not sure if it is is the latest and being that my T3 has been my only synthesizer for the last two years, I immediately wanted to try Poly Mode with the LP being ‘1’ (in Poly Mode) and the T3 being ‘2’.

That didn’t pan out. At all.

Instead, upon completing steps illustrated in the video guide for the LP to the SP, I instead received less LP and no T3.

The LP was only triggering every three (or four) notes. Even then, I don’t think the output was duo phonic. The T3’s channel on my Apogee Duet was without life – all sound was coming from the LP’s channel.

I’m not entirely sure what is going on because the karat (the symbol ‘>’) comes up (on the T3) when parameter changes are made from the LP. So MIDI is being transmitted but there is no audio signal to illustrate these changes sonically.

The Taurus 3’s volume was 75% and both synthesizers were restarted to see if any changes had occurred. The result; absolutely none whatsoever.

Another important consideration is that the T3 itself would not trigger across the pedalboard as long as Poly Mode was enabled (‘2’). Once it was turned off, the pedalboard emitted sound again and only then did the T3 audio channel on my Apogee Duet come to life.

Could anyone assist me in remedying this without suggesting me to the Taurus sub-forum? As far as I know, since the v3.1 firmware update to the LP/SP, there is no difference in the LP and T3 as far as MIDI functionality goes and menu options (except for the ‘Send CCs’ menu newly bestowed upon the LP/SP). They both even send and receive 14-bit MIDI so the miscommunication between them along two tried MIDI cables.

Does anything come to mind as being the possible culprit to this? Any and all assistance in this matter goes immensely appreciated as I’m loving the LP solo, but this played a big role in justifying the purchase overall (duophonic relationship with the T3).

Thank in advance anyone and everyone. :frowning:

P.S.
I am trying to record a composition I have compiled (but it requires some dynamic live knob-tweaking in duophony) for a rough release on September 11th. I’d like to maintain my current sound with compromising with soft-solutions. Please, if anyone could help me out at the time of reading, do so at the moment of inquiry as time is most sensitive and from the reports I’ve read of the new firmware update (which I think it shipped with?), Poly Mode should be running more than smoothly.

Hate to be the bidder of bad news but I’m 99% sure that you are out of luck, at least for the near term.

I spent hours on this with different versions of code to no avail.

With the later versions of 3.x Phatty code, the algorithm was changed to a round-robin style scheme as used by other Poly manufacturers as old as the first SEM based polys and as new as the DSI gear.

Problem is that Taurus has not been updated to work in the same way. It’s great for those with a stack of Slim Phatty’s but bad for us.

Older versions or code didn’t work either (at least I have not been able to conjure up the golden combination).

What does work very well is using your DAW or a piece of lightweight software such ad Cantable or MidiMapper to split your Phatty kbd. Set local control it off, have software send the midi notes and cc’s to the appropriate device, etc.

To be frank, the old algorithm was crap anyway. It required you to press and hold a first note (presumably bass) and then play the 2nd note.

If you or anybody has come up with a general solution that works outside of software, I’d like to know. I’ve asked before and gotten limited response.
