All sounds are from the little phatty (except the drums). The little phatty is on the ‘calibration’ patch with basic settings and 2 saw oscillators, it’s then running into a MF-101 whose cutoff is being modulated by MF-102’s sine LFO.
Hi there.. Im loving your little funky jam! Is it possible to create this type of sound without the MF’s? I’ve had my LP about 2 months now and loving it! I’ve really want to inject some of this type of funkiness into my music
Hey, thanks for the comment. I suppose it should be possible to get that sound straight from the LP. I think the main ‘funkiness’ comes from modulating the filter’s cutoff with a slow LFO. So that each time you trigger a short note the filter will be more or less open or closed compared to the previous note. So playing notes quickly creates a auto-wah type effect.
The reason I’m using moogerfoogers is that:
The MF-101 sounds phatter to me than LP’s filter for some reason. Of course I’m running the entire audio signal into the MF-101 vs just the oscillator mix as is done inside the LP.
The MF-102 gives me a sine LFO which definitely sounds smoother when modulating the filter cutoff. On the LP the closest equivalent would be the triangle LFO.
I was also modulating the MF-102’s LFO rate by the MF-101’s envelope (this was very subtle though and can probably be done without). On the LP you can’t modulate the LFO rate.
But start off with a simple saw wave oscillator and apply a slow LFO to modulate the filter, then play around with the cutoff knob and see if you find the sound you want.
Hi there.. Thanks for the advice i will definitely try that out. I think my next purchase will have to be the mf-102! Although if i bought one now the wife would kill me hehe So im going to have to wait a little while, Since getting my LP i really want the foogers now! Have you any music on soundcloud or anything if so it would be nice to have a listen! Keep rocking the funk man! You got it sounding lovely there
