Hi,
Sorry another possibly stupid question. The Voyager RME has no Touch Surface or x/y controller, whatever you want to call it. The little Korg Nanopad has such a controller and it is a very cheap little device. Has anyone tried or does anyone think that the Nanopad x/y pad will substitute for the missing controller on the RME?
Regards,
David
It will work (sort of… read on)
It will do X and Y and you can map CC# to any function you want, but I don’t think you’ll be able to duplicate the “Z” Axis which is to say the amount of touchpad suffice.
I had one and while my Old School scoffs at Midi, I used it for my MidiMurf, specifically to adjust envelope.
All of the Korg nano series come with a piece of software that ‘programs’ them, meaning that you assign a pgm change, a note to be played or a CC# and bind that to the pads or to the touch pad (and to other controls on the nanoKey and Kontrol).
I had a problem with mine when I moved it across my desk and the USB connector literally ripped off of the circuit board. Sounds like a violent description doesn’t it? Hardly.
I opened it up to see what happened and found the USB (mini) surface mounted to the board. What a bad design and a major shame. I went on the net and others had the same issue. I called Korg, they sent me a replacement (I was within the yr warranty), sold it on eBay for $40 brand new, then put the $$ towards my Novation SL25.
The nice thing about the i* system is that the software is only required to program the devices for each scene. Once programmed, you can quit the application and simply use the device which sends Midi over USB. The only drawback as mentioned is the construction of the USB port. But the 1 yr. warranty is handy.
