Kommander / Sub Phatty demo

Enjoy.

cool… I like it!

How do you switch the pitch - in the video it seems that it responds to fast movements?

Thanks, mate.

In regards to pitch changes, those were being made via the Sub Phatty’s keyboard (which I was playing with my other hand).

OK, thanks… perfect synchronized!

I will have a closer look to the Kommander

Thanks again! It was just a little jam session - my first go-around with the Kommander after adjusting the Gate threshold via its trimmer.

I believe I received one of the last ones of this run, but I’d say it is worth the wait.

Aggressive! I like it!!
I think that adding portamento to this equation would make it perfect in terms of sound and pitch change.

It would be great if you shared the direct audio recording… it’s not hard to edit in the video. If you’re a Mac user, you can learn how to do it with iMovie within minutes.

Cheers!

Thanks, mate!

I know only how to implement glide on the Sub Phatty. I am not entirely sure there is a way of using, per say, an envelope to modulate the pitch, but that would be nice. I’m currently shopping for ribbon controllers. I wish the Walking Stick was still in production. ::heavily sighs::

Are you asking me to detach the audio from the video or perhaps disable the audio on video capture and record what I am jamming?

To me portamento = glide, isn’t it??

As for audio, I think that recording your SP sound thru an external audio interface would make the video even better! It’s very easy to sync everything with iMovie… record audio with GarageBand and add it to the video. All you’ll have to do is remove the camera’s audio. I think you described what I said with other words…

Cheers!!

Very nice video indeed, bravo!

Thanks, mate! Glad you enjoyed it.

There are some sonic nuances that differentiate the two.

With glide, there is a continuous shift from the current pitch to the next pitch starting sometime during the current note, finishing the process the moment the next note starts. Whereas with portamento, there is a continuous shift from the last pitch to the current pitch starting at the beginning of a new note. Perhaps I am not explaining it too well, but that is about as coherent as I can get right now. Hahaha.

Mm, yes. I figured that is what you meant. I will make sure to do another demo, this time utilizing my Apogee Duet rather than sourcing from the camera’s audio. That shouldn’t be a problem whatsoever.
