If you’re a Keith Emerson Fan, even if not, stop reading right now and go to your favorite site or store and purchase the DVD “Moscow, The Keith Emerson Band”. I’ll wait
…
Welcome back. This DVD is from the Keith Emerson Band a few years ago. There are several ELP classic s rearranged along with several tracks from the Keith Emerson Band CD. Lucky Man and Tarkus alone are worth the price. In Lucky Man he not only does an extended solo on the Modular Moog at the end, but uses a Moog Etherwave Theremin.
Makes sense since Leon Theremin was from Russia
He also uses it for a short solo in Tarkus. The Ribbon Controller/Guitar Duo in Tarkus is very entertaining.
I saw this tour when it was in the States, and fully enjoyed the show. This DVD is a great reminder of that show, just as good if not a bit better. One cool thing at “our show” the ended with the Modular Moog playing the sequence from the end of Karn Evil 9 Third Impression…without the Moog “blowing up” While I haven’t watch the whole DVD yet, it appears that is not on it, but it does end with a great Nutcracker Suite melody. Kind of Trans Siberian Orchestra meets ELP with Keith covering Keith.
