just when I think I'm getting a little bored of the voyager

… It always manages to surprise me. So if you have a vx351 or cp251 or both and and some patch cables you can add four more modulation destinations via the pot mapping.

I’ve grown quite fond of adding playing dynamics to the envelopes and wave shapes and filters. But I noticed for the first time there mod1 and mod2 sources in the pot mapping menus. So for anyone not familiar this means you can use the LFO for vibrato on the mod wheel as usual use the sample and hold for the filter on the pedal buss… Then use the cp251 or vx351 (or any other LFO, envelope, etc) plugged into mod1 and mod2 and route that any other four parameters in the Voyager! This is a huge discovery for me! Geezus Kryste! Now I want an XL…

So the MOD1 & MOD2 are outputs from the voyagers MOD busses?

If so, how does the amount work when you use them?

No they are inputs or sources. In the pot mapping the buss amounts have no affect.

What do you set the source for the mods on the voyager then?

What ever you want really. If you want four lfo’s…mod wheel buss = lfo, pedal buss vco 3, pot mapping source 1= mod 1 input with external lfo (from cp25, moogerfooger etc) plugged into mod 1 input, pot mapping source 2= mod 2 input with external lfo plugged into mod 2 input.

Although thinking about this the lfo plugged into mod 1 might affect the amount of the modulation in the pedal buss. I’ll have to experiment with this

Hi, due to problems of space, my Voyager has been in a bag some months, but now that I 've been cleaning space, I’m rather nervous to play with it again, like the first day ! .. Oh, beautiful machine, and funny unexpected experience kind of re-animation

Yay! It’s like getting a new synth all over again!

I just wanted to give this a little bump to give ColorForm2113. I’d actually never thought of this. Well played, sir. Well played. I’d actually had an idea on how to modulate some other parameters (I’ve been avoiding the keyboard lately gasp and pulling as much musicality as I could via texture and modulation.), and now that idea for modulating parameters is really going to yield some unexpected results with the trick you’ve shared. Thanks. Shame on me for not thinking of this sooner!

Thanks friend!

Regarding “textures” - in case you you missed it:

Opens a lot of new possibilities…

I saw that!!! Another great idea. I was fortunate enough to borrow a friend’s small case and ran OSC3 out into an STG Wavefolder then back into the Voyager. I’d always wanted an isolated oscillator (three running full tilt is cute and funny until it gets old), and running 3 into outboard worked wonderfully.

Thanks - I’ve been messing around with that for years and had to share it with the group.

The STG Wavefolder is a cool module - lots of possibilities there:

Also try using the STG mixer (if available) as an insert effect.

That never happens to me!

Ha! Touché.
