FYI

The rlmusic interview with Jean Jacques Perry is finally online.

Windows Media Player and Macintosh QuickTime formats:-

http://www.rlmusic.co.uk/mals_site/home_01.html

JJP talks about his pioneering work with tape loops, the Ondioline and the Moog Modular.

Enjoy!

Mal

76 people viewed this . . . anyone like it, or found it interesting?

JJP is about to release his next moog album early next year . . not bad for a 76 year old!

Wow, great pictures!

I had a hard time understanding what he said to be honest. Will have to wait for the transcript!

For some reason, hearing that French accent reminded me of when the Fifi Bastard invaded this forum!

very cool indeed.

i really dig the mp3 samples from the new record.
my friend recently got me into Perry & Kingsley, but I like this new sh*t too…

so inspiring to see this cat still at it, experimenting, creating with the tools he loves…

matter of fact, I’m gonna work on some sh*t right now…

PEACE

:bulb:

Adam

I can’t believe you can put the legendary JJP and Fifi Bastard in the same sentance . . If it wasn’t for the likes of JJP you might not be playing your moog . . there might have been no moog.

Listen harder . . . it aint that diffecult to understand him!

Mal

What a strange old man…

tried to watch- there was video, but no sound.

tried to watch- there was video, but no sound

I just tried it again on my several Macs and PC’s and everything worked as it should have. I can only suggest that you make sure you have the latest media player, just incase there is a codec discrepancy as all the files definitely have audio.

Anyone else encountered this problem?

Mal

I only tried the Quicktime ones. I use a Mac and I thought my software was up to date. There was no sound on the larger file but there was picture. However, on the smaller file there was sound but no picture.

That makes no sense at all . . seeing as the 2 files are basically encoded from the one master file . . . If it was a problem with your QT or Mac then I would have thought you would have had the same problem with both files . . sounds more like a bandwidth problem . . . does it play OK once it has completely loaded?

Both QT files are encoded via QT version 7.0.2

Mal

I just tried the QT files again and they worked fine! Weird, they weren’t playing properly last night. I’m running Quicktime Player 7.0.3

Might have just been a bandwidth problem with the rlmusic website . . . not sure how much data they can push?

Glad you can view the interview now.

Mal

I used the highest quality Windows version. Worked perfectly.

As for Fifi, I was only joking! I’ve only heard a few of JJP’s songs, which I do like.

ok, tried again, and it works.. I too had g5 mac w/ 7.0.3
nice video

you should try to get aphex twin to do an interview/video seeing as how he’s just as influential, and owns about every synth made.

We have a number of interesting synth users in the pipeline for interviews next year . . . we try to make it a resource open to all, but some musicians see it as promoting rlmusic . . so in that sense we tend to go for pro-musicians that have bought synths from rlmusic or people that have shaped the business directly.

If anyone here has something to say and would like to get involved then let me know!

Mal

Gary Numan, Vince Clarke and Kraftwerk!

Three artists / acts that are known for not giving interviews!

I personally would love to interview Vince Clarke!
(Vince if you are reading this email me please).

Mal

I agree, Gary seems to have Asperger’s Syndrome, the same as me.

As for Kraftwerk, I suppose it might be difficult to get Ralf and Florian in the same room as Karl and Wolfgang!

Hey mal,
Thanks for posting the video link. The interviews are great. It is nice to listen to Bob talk about creating new instruments. Some of the guys posting to the “what are they going to call it” and the “what will they make next” threads have got to be drooling 24-7.
