I've started the bidding on this 'iffy' Voyager

I own a Prodigy and a Source but have lusted after a voyager for years. I’ve emailed the seller about this one…

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7392063074&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT

and he reckons it’s basically OK but occasionally the patches change without provocation. The issue with the Anniversary presets missing is hopefully just a download?

I’m posting this in the hope that someone can tell me if the fault sounds like it could be easily cured (with an OS reload?) or could it be more serious?
It’s in the Uk, as am I, so shipping to Moog would be horrendous but i suppose it could go to a UK distributor to sort if necessary?

What do you thinks it’s worth in it’s current state?

It sounds OK! I had to reload my AE presets (a simple download from Moog like the new OS’s) when I installed OS 2.5 from OS 2.1. I’m not sure what i did wrong but my AE has been fine ever since.

However, I can’t say whether the price is a good deal because I don’t know the exchange rate. I’de say between $2000 - $2500 US. You need to look into that.

Best of luck!

£900 isn’t a bad price at all. My Signature Ed cost me 3 times that amount!

You can easily reload the patches, as they’re available on this site. The issue with the patches changing by themselves I’ve had very rarely when using a midi sequencer.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. Is the upgrade from 2.1 to 2.5 straight forward? I’ve done it on many synths before but I’ve read a few threads on here saying it didn’t go well.

Thanks

I think more people have had success than haven’t. It’s pretty easy if you carefully follow the instructions and have something reliable like MidiOx to serve as the conduit. I had no problems at all.

Even a fool like me can update the OS!

I was looking at that one too - £900 is a good price for sure.

I was going to ask the seller about the “circuit” fault, but clearly you already have.

My SE had major issues with parameters changing/flickering which was fixed immediately by the OS upgrade. On the other hand if it’s the actual patches that change that could be something more (dodgy switch, damaged board etc).

Doesn’t sound too serious, but you don’t want to go too much above the £1000 just in case. It is eBay and he’s openly discussed the fault so there would be no comeback if it was a whole board or something serious.

Good luck anyway.

Oh well, he’s ended it early. I bet one of you lot have made him an offer!!!

I’ve emailed him to see what the score is. His earlier response regarding the fault was some of the parameters (not patches) kept changing so I guess the OS upgrade would have sorted it. Maybe he read this thread and decided to keep it! Bugger :frowning:

Anybody else want to sell an AE cheap?

I know when upgrading to OS 3.1, about half of the presets get lost, but it’s normal. Make sure to back up your presets unless you haven’t made any and you can load them in after you upgrade.
