Just picked up a 12 stage phaser for $215 and an Encore Expressionist for $450. Creamy Moogness and the best MIDI-CV madness available. Now to build a breakout panel for my modular.
Awesome.
Its a good day anytime you can wake up.
I don’t know how I feel about buying used Foogers though. I think having crisp and clean and brand new gear in my rack just makes me feel good.
Eric
I got my MF-102 used, but it was in unused condition and it came with the moogerfooger dvd and an ep-2! And the guy that turned it in to the store was there trading more stuff in! My Voyager also came from Craigslist.
…and it’s an even better day when moog finally sends you an emil stating your T3 has been shipped eh Eric?
I guess there is something to be said for buying new, but I’m happy with the savings of used gear. Everything I’ve gotten was like new in perfect shape with boxes, manuals and accessories. Every module in my modular is second hand. My Voyager and everyting in the sig file was used except the VX-351 and one CP-251 that I bought new. The only keyboard in the house I bought new was my Privia digital piano. I bought a bunch new in the old days and it felt good until I had to sel it for whatever reason. Then, after working in a music store and getting super trades, I lost the desire to pay the depriciation!
Now the big problem is figuring out where it is all going to get placed.
(Heck, that is still a bit over $4000 for the Moog stuff in my sig file. But under $2000 for the Dotcom modular.)
You’re right on the mark there. Just because a unit was used a couple of times and then re-sold doesn’t make it inferrior in the least. When you pick your guitar up out of it’s case or plug in one of your effects pedals you don’t look at them as being “second hand” right? Bloody well right…
