I am no knowledgeable tech guy when it comes to checking out the PCBs and parts that make up a synth, but do you guys seriously think the Minitaur (for example) shows signs of cheap labour (taking under account its cost)?
I have used a lot flimsier synths that lasted for decades and every time I touch my Minitaur (and my Slim Phatty to be honest), I feel like I am using a synth, that although it is limited in terms of sound design (and I find great inspiration in the limitations a synth has by the way), that is build to last and outputs a tone that inspires me to write music AND my love for using this synth, has had a direct result of making music I like more, than when I did not have them.
Like I said, I am not techy, but as a producer/hobbyist for the last 15 years, I don’t remember any year that we had it as good as we do today.
You want an old vintage synth? its on ebay.
You want a new analog synth, that does not sound as “vintage” as the Model D, yet it is there for you to use, explore, find its pros and use it for that reason, for many years that its new parts will last for? Its available for you to buy as well.
