Something occurs to me that probably should have occurred years ago. Moog synths tend to keep their value over time, and that value is above the single-item limit on my homeowners insurance. Is there a company that will insure them individually, and pay out the replacement/market value if damaged or stolen? I am familiar with Clarion for traditional musical instruments, and they will even insure instruments used for professional performance, but not cheap (1-3% of the value per year). Has anyone insured a synth with them, or anyone else? How about filed a claim?
I have a “Personal Articles” policy with State Farm as an adjunct to my Homeowner’s insurance. This insures musical instruments, watches/jewelry, etc. The initial amount was based on purchase price, but they have accounted for increase in value over time. Fortunately, I have not had to test it. FWIW, I also have an Apple AirTag hidden inside my 2016 Reissue.
I do have insurance for my Moogs. One of them is listed as a personal electronic property (like my laptop) under my general home insurance in case of unexpected accidents or theft. The other ones are owned by my company and we have a special corporate property insurance which covers equipment against theft and accidental damage. Both of these insurances carry out the value increase annually.
