$1200 still sitting
Not so long back they peaked at about $4000. Some drop - plus the Roland MKS sold first.
i for one did not see this coming at all.
ok. i am being very sarcastic. ![]()
what’d anyone expect? the T3 packs such a feature rich punch - who wants to blow $1000+ on a 30 year old piece of gear with an unknown history, missing params door, holes drilled into legs, when you could own a powerhouse for $1995 (or less if you catch the deals on eBay)? i don’t care if Keith Emerson owned it or not - thats a bad investment with the wonderful T3s available for same or lower price.
if you’re in the market for a set of T3s, check out novamusik has a great package deal for $1995 that includes extras!
Yeah, the package deals on Novamusik have been spectacular recently.
I could have never spent $3000+ on a set of T1. $1000 more for the T1 over the T3 seems crazy. $800 dollars less, they are starting to get into range. If it wasn’t for the synth-tech repair bills…
One of the things that attracted me to the T3 was the fact that I have some long term synthesizer plans. WHen I get my PT license, I will be in the position to afford some stuff that I want, one of which was a model D. At the time I had also considered a MultiMoog to go with my Micro, but ultimately I wanted to build a Constellation system along with the many modusonics modules, but alot of that isn’t going to happen now.
So I got the T3 because of its limited release and because I want duophonics, but that hasn’t been a 100% sucess either (polyphonics wise) but I am definately looking to see what Moog has in store with their polyphonic synth.
So looking towards a modern day Moog Constellation with some dotcom modules to boot.
And even after the t3 was announced, a year before the production, the ebay rapists still sought to ream us with that 4K pricetag for the t1.
So a big hahahaha to people that can no longer fetch those highly inflated prices just because of that Moog Badge.
Why am I not surprised? Minimoog model D prices peaked at almost $4000 until the Voyager came out. Law of supply driving the market.
Some people still want more than 5 for them. I have seen prices well over 4000 even after the OS Voyager was released.

Hell the T3 hurt the T3 market. I stopped playing in my regular Rush cover band and briefly considering unloading the T3 so I checked the local and eBay listings… even at $1400 like new they aren’t selling… so I’ll be definitely hanging on to mine for the time being.
a minimoog voyager shouldn’t be compared longer with the voyager. to me they are two different instruments, despite the marketingtalks.
they are both moog and have 3 osc. for the rest they sound and behave as different as a minimoog-d to a multimoog, sonicsix, etc.
taurus1 to 3 might have more relation, as they are both very dedicated instruments developed for a small niche in the market.
there is simply only one real solution for the footplaying synthesists: moog. i never was able to try out the t1 so i don’t know if the differences are as big as with the model-d versus voyage. as far as i can read it , it seems that the advantages of the t3 are much bigger whereas the sounddifferences aren’t that big. prices will prove me right or wrong on that.
You’ll be glad you decided to keep em. I sold my T-1s and my T-2s years ago when I was between bands, and regretted it later - especially the T-1s. I’m between bands myself right now, and just today I played my T-3s for the first time in 2 months, just to hear them - man, am I glad I still (and always will) have them!
I think prices for used instruments have also been affected by the advent of eBay and the internet, and more recently by stores like Music-Go-Round - it used to be if you wanted a set of Taurus-1s, you scoured the newspaper classifieds for weeks or even months in hopes of finding a set, and you also made phone calls to musical instrument dealers in New York, L.A., and everywhere in between.
Today, you can find just about any new or used instrument you want with a 10-minute cyber-search.
