How to make zero to three delays with the turn of a knob?

I’d like to be able to control the amount of delays with a knob/pedal while playing. That’s no problem going from one delay to infinite with the Feedback knob. But how could I achieve it with zero to three (that’s all I need) delays? It would be great.

One can imagine that an expression pedal or gate sent to the feedback jackand/or the mix jack could do something…

Yes, expression pedal with a fine tune knob like Ep-2.

Otherwise a simple circuit with a switch and the correct resistor / trim pot would work.

Ehx 8 step sequencer would be overkill, but would work.

Just noticed you have the M. Lots of solutions there!

Well, I tried a pedal to Feedback In, and that gives the same amount of control as turning the knob, one to infinite delays. I can use the Mix knob (or pedal to Mix In) but that gives me zero delays or a set amount of delays. Haven’t figured out how to combine the two with just the amount of delays changing.

I don’t use a computer, and rarely a sequencer. So the Midi In doesn’t help me here.

What pedal did you try? You might try limiting the repeats by use of the dial on the side of the EP-2. The dial limits the range of the pedal.

I know, but it can’t stop that first delay since the MF-104 with the Feedback knob set on 0 gives one delay. That’s what I was hoping to prevent.

I use the EP-2 and by adjusting the range of it I can make the Feedback go from one to infinite delays, as I mentioned earlier. But I’d like to go from ZERO to a few delays. That can’t be done by simply turning the Feedback knob connecting a pedal to Feedback In.

It’s not a big deal, just had this idea of playing using 1-3 delays on certain notes. Would’ve been a fun and inspiring new way of playing.

Use a multiple (CP-251) to send the attenuated EP-2 (set for 3 delays) to both MIX and FEEDBACK. Make sure you have TRS cables. If the mix level is not enough, you can add a further offset using the CP-251 mixer.

By nature, a delay effect that isn’t bypassed will always produce one repeat.

1 pedal. Into mix. Set feedback to what ever delay you want. Use pedal to go from dry to wet. 0 or (x)# of delays. Now if you want 0 and 1 and 3 delay repeats, it will get more complicated. You will need to set pedal with attenuator for 1 to 3 delay repeats with full scale and also stomp on the bypass switch to get 0.

Zero pedals then. Bypass switch. But I think the idea was to have a variable 0-3 repeat range.

OP can also use MIDI CC e.g. with his MachineDrum to bypass the unit or control the feedback parameter. I don’t think this works with a pedal though.
