all of the above, but primarily to replace the source live. I need the voyager dedicated for studio duties at the mo so the phatty will be my live machine.
I have the Voyager RME, and I ordered the LP because:
a) I was able to get serial #0002, which matches the serial on my RME.
b) I wanted a good keyboard mono I could take along to a jam (and I don’t have the money for a keyboard Voyager).
c) If I get another player for my band, I’ll have them play it.
d) A new Moog synth doesn’t come along every day.
e) It will kick ass on top of my Rhodes.
f) A brand-spankin’ new Moog synth: often imitated, never duplicated.
I have a MiniMoog Model D, which I love. It’s my lead synth,
that I mostly play melody lines on. It’s in need of a rebushing, but has
a beautiful sound. it wil probably go away to the tech next month to
get rebushed and calibrated.
I got the Phatty to complement it plus, if I ever do a live performance,
I will have a good stand in. I also like the Moog sound a lot so there’s
nothing wrong with sequencing the LP for one lot of noises and I can
still have fun on the Mini!
Also the LP is now going to be my master controller, so it will get a lot
of use in that area as well!
I’ll not be getting one. The voyager does the Moog sound pretty well of course and I would rather get a larger sound pallet than just more Moog sound. Next major synth purchase that’s coming my way is a modular, and the next minor purchase is the CP/VX combo and a few moog pedals.
I’ll have to think about what pedals however. They would be great for live, but some might be redundant with a modular.
