When I played my keyboard controller connected to my Voyager RME, I heard no sound. I thought I may have damaged it with an incorrect patch to my VX-351 and VX-352 expanders. I tried everything, but I heard no sound at all (increased Matser Volume pot, plugged in headphones to test for sound, changed to another preset, reset presets to defaults, powered the RME off then back on, etc).
With the RME powered off, I disconnected both the VX-351 and VX-352. I powered it back on, and now I hear sound again when I play my keyboard. There is not a single patch cable plugged into either expander though.
It looks like a patch cable is required in my case to hear sound. The VX-352 being connected is preventing the synth from producing sound. When I connect a patch cable from Pedals MOD1 on the VX-351 to Out Volume on the VX-352, I hear sound as I have in the past.
I didn’t have to do this yesterday though, so I am not sure why I have to do it now.
Now my Voyager RME is back to normal producing an audible level of sound output with both the VX-351 and VX-352 connected and no patch cable to Out Volume.
I have no clue why or how it suddenly got back to normal. I’ve made no changes to it at all.
Interestingly enough, my RME began producing sound several minutes later on its own with the Env. Gate switch set to On/Ext. I had actually forgotten that I pressed a key on my controller.
I seem to have a defective unit. There’s no rhyme or reason for this behavior. I submitted an RMA request for this. My RME is only two months old.
Perhaps you have oxidation on some of your connectors which is preventing a switch contact which is otherwise normalled? Can you wipe the contacts by inserting a plug a couple of times?
